New Classes, New Studio

Thrive Therapeutics is a fantastic new studio/clinic opening in Barrie. And I am honoured to be a part and have the opportunity to teach and offer private yoga therapy!
The studio will open in May and it can be found at 4 Checkley St. Suite 204 in downtown Barrie.

From the Facebook page...
Thrive Therapeutics is the vision for healing of Kathy Leung Degen, a physiotherapist and an osteopathic manual practitioner. Often meeting clients with extensive and long-standing chronic dysfunctions and illnesses in her practice, Kathy discovered patients who are empowered to be involved with their healing maintain the functionality they work toward. That empowerment often comes in the form of yoga and Pilates, both practices which serve clients well in the healing process. At Thrive Therapeutics, we provide therapeutic classes small enough to allow for a relationship of trust to develop between teacher and students which helps students develop personal awareness and knowledge for achieving efficient, functional and healthy movement. Improved functional movements greatly assist in any healing process. Instructors at Thrive Therapeutics work closely with the physiotherapists and osteopaths at the centre to ensure they are aware of the stages of healing of individual students. Building from this team approach, teachers are able to individualize programs, within the class setting, for every student. All teachers participate in ongoing continuing education in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and medical research to provide the most current and effective programs for their students.

Services
Thrive Therapeutics’ experienced team of yoga and Pilates teachers offer both individual, private sessions and group classes. Classes are offered in 12 week sessions and maintain a therapeutic focus for the duration. We encourage the novice and experienced student to be in the same class to share in the learning process as healing naturally teaches us about ourselves. Classes are designated specific therapeutic, with a maximum of 8 participants, or general therapeutic with up to 12 participants.

Beginning in May I will be offering classes on Monday mornings!
Yoga for Mobility at 9:30am

A safe and effective way for people who lack mobility to enjoy the benefits of a yoga practice. Yoga asanas
(postures) are adapted to create an accessible way for students with limited mobility participate in a yoga
practice. Traditional and adapted postures alike are performed, allowing students to increase their flexibility in a
safe, supported setting. This gentle, prop assisted yoga class directs attention to proper alignment, pranayama
(breath) and meditation.

Understanding Yoga at 11:ooam

A class aimed at enriching ones asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (yogic breathing) practice, a place to begin a yoga practice or to delve into creating a personal practice. A progressive series of understanding pranayama and ideal alignment in yoga asanas with an emphasis on meditation and the essence of savasana.

If you are interested in registering for a class, please email me at sacredspacesyoga@gmail.com

Also, the group of teachers at Thrive Therapeutics is incredible and I will share the full schedule as soon as it is available.

Peaceful blessings,
Mel
